October 13th, 2011 | News, Success Story
Surprising Mustangs Run To A WSC Tennis Conference Championship! The 2011 girls varsity tennis team overcame the largest deficit in conference history to win the WSC Gold tennis conference championship this past Friday and Saturday. Down three full points early in the season after a loss to defending champion Hinsdale South, the young Mustangs fought through the WSC Gold without losing another match to close to within one point of the Hornets.
Then, in surprising fashion, the Mustangs rallied to overtake the field, stunning the Hornets, to win the conference tournament and take possession of the title. Conference medalist included: junior captain Vicki Andonova at 1st singles, Sophomore Grace Prete at 2nd singles, Junior captain Amy Even and freshman Tiffany Bui at #1 doubles, and junior captain Dhara Puvar and Junior Supal Mehta at #2 doubles. Conference champions included: junior Shivani Rathi and junior Ashley Maghirang at #3 doubles, junior Bridget O’Toole and Junior Macy Murray at #4 doubles and sophomore Amber Warland whose 3 and 1/2 hour epic final at #3 singles sealed the deal for the Mustangs! Miracles do happen! It was an unbelievably magical day to be a Mustang!
